What Is Multiple Sclerosis?

According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, MS is thought to be an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS). An autoimmune disease is one in which the human immune system begins to dysfunction and actually receives signals to begin attacking and breaking down various systems within the body.

In MS, the immune system begins to attack the brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves. Surrounding and protecting the nerve fibers of the CNS is a fatty tissue called myelin, a substance rich in protein and lipids fatty substances that forms layers around the nerve fibers and acts as insulation, much like a rubber chord insulates electrical wiring. This insulation helps nerve fibers conduct electrical impulses.

In MS, myelin is lost in multiple areas, leaving scar tissue called sclerosis. These damaged areas are also known as plaques or lesions. Sometimes the nerve fiber itself is damaged or broken.
Myelin not only protects nerve fibers, but makes their job possible. When myelin or the nerve fiber is destroyed or damaged, the ability of the nerves to conduct electrical impulses to and from the brain is disrupted, and this produces the various symptoms of MS.

While Sanoviv respects the modern treatments and drug therapies used to halt or reverse MS, we also have successfully employed numerous complementary approaches that aid in minimizing the effects of the disease. Sanoviv's guests have experienced tremendous results from Sanoviv's programs in treating MS successfully.

Many of our guests have achieved the same level of results Roz Syler from our testimonial experienced including:

  • Restored use of limbs
  • Decreased dependency or complete elimination of painkillers and narcotics
  • Significant decrease in pain
  • A strong sense of "feeling normal", vibrant and alive

If you'd like to watch a video testimonial from one of our past guests who has achieved a high degree of comfort from a MS treatment, visit this link.

Treating Diabetes at Sanoviv

There are 18.2 million people in the United States, or 6.3% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 13 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 5.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life.

Sanoviv Medical Institute and Health Retreat excels at treating chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes. While traditional Western medical treatments focus on insulin and medications, the Sanoviv approach emphasizes diet, nutrition, exercise, psychological issues and lifestyle modification, all in a beautiful, serene setting.

There’s a brilliiant physician at Sanoviv whose focus has been on blending the best of allopathic (traditional) medicine and alternative medicine to treat conditions such as diabetes.

Dr. Alberto Pena is revitalizing modern medicine by applying a variety of leading-edge therapies to treat patients with illnesses such as diabetes, lupus, arthritis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

He affiliated with Sanoviv Medical Institute in 1999 to validate the powerful principles of alternative medicine His whole-body approach and deep-rooted passion for healing are charting new paths toward medical breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of diseases such as diabetes.

Performing detailed medical examinations at Sanoviv, Dr. Pena becomes intimately acquainted with his patients and their lifestyles. He knows that less-than-optimum lifestyles contribute to various disease states, including diabetes. Fortunately, these conditions can be reversed by improving one’s nutrition, exercise and stress-coping habits.

A driving inspiration for Dr. Pena has been his father, an oncologist. While growing up, Dr. Pena watched his dad successfully pair alternative therapies with conventional cancer treatments.

Who Is Dr. Myron Wentz and Why Did He Create Sanoviv?

In his quest to improve the health of as many people as possible, Dr. Myron Wentz realized that he needed to continue advancing the field of nutrition and to accelerate the world's understanding and acceptance of the importance of nutrition. To this end he created a wellness center for women in Atlanta, Georgia-an experiment in integrative medicine that brings conventional doctors and alternative medical practitioners together into an intelligent, effective continuum of care that acknowledges the vital role of good nutrition.

Taking this concept one giant step further, Dr. Wentz created Sanoviv, his crown jewel. This sparkling new total wellness center perches like a white dove above one of the world's most inviting ocean bays. Located just south of Rosarito Beach, Mexico, Sanoviv is built on the site of the former Levi Strauss mansion.

From top to bottom, Sanoviv is Dr. Wentz's financial and spiritual creation. "Sanoviv is a model research, education, and clinical facility, where selected people with different disease entities can be studied and helped in a very controlled environment," he states. The government of Mexico agrees, seeing Sanoviv as an example of the forward-looking medicine they want to encourage in their country.

"I believe this place will enable us to uncover many of the answers that we need to prevent and reverse degenerative disease in the world today" says Dr. Wentz. "Nutrition is our primary foundation. But we are also learning how to properly detoxify our bodies from all the toxic substances we've accumulated throughout our lifetimes."

"I'm confident that Sanoviv will become a place for health and healing like no other. I'm engaging the best scientists and practitioners to help me unlock the mysteries, help me to find the answers that we need to combat all forms of degenerative diseases, using cancer as our most challenging objective."
